International Women’s Day is celebrated by CMA each year bringing to the fore the various roles being played by women in the Cement Industry in India, in keeping with this intent, CMA launched its initiative Women of Cement in 2022. CMA applauds and would like to highlight the women in the Cement fraternity. Women of Cement celebrates the resilience, strength and commitment of women in the Cement Industry and we call them, the Women of Cement.
It is truly inspiring to witness the growing presence of women in diverse roles within the Cement Industry. This shift underscores the dedication of our Member Companies to fostering gender inclusivity and empowerment.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, as announced by the United Nations, is For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.

Mrs. Poonam Sharma is a qualified Chartered Accountant having 19+ years of experience in the Cement Industry. Over her long tenure with SCL, she has exposure in Project Accounts & Commercial activities. Her responsibilities spanned a comprehensive range including Project Accounts, Procurement, Contract Cell, P&A, Land etc. Currently working as Lead Procurement Excellence she is responsible for providing strategic insights on cost reduction on various procurement initiatives.
Ms. Chatterjee is a seasoned brand strategy and marketing professional with distinguished three-decade career spanning diverse industries from consulting to chemicals, electronics/TV, infrastructure/express cargo and steel. She is associated with Shree Cement from March 2024 and since than has been playing instrumental role in leading our corporate communication strategy in alignment with our business priorities.
CS Sonali Sanas is a Post Graduate in Financial Management from Bhopal University, Graduate in Law and holds a one year diploma in General Management from IIM Raipur. She has also undergone an Advance Management Program from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and is a Wharton Alumnus. She has around 25 years of work experience in Regulatory Affairs, Corporate and other operating laws like Land, Mining and Power. She worked as Group Company Secretary for Danik Bhaskar- DB Corp group upto 2009. She was associated with Ispat – Mittal Group as Vice President – Corporate Affairs from 2009 to 2014 and was responsible for the PAN India properties, legal, secretarial and with corporate restructuring as the main forte. She is presently working as Chief Legal Officer, CS & Strategy of Saurashtra Cement Limited and is also Legal Head of The Mehta Group. She is associated with the Mehta Group since last 10 years. In her incumbent, she has recently taken over HR function of the group as CHRO.
Mrs. Priya Sharma is working as Deputy General Manager, Sales at Mangalam Cement Limited (B.K. Birla Group of companies). She has been associated with the company for 20 years. She is heading all the Sales Tax Matters along with the financial issues of the Company. Mrs Priya Sharma has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and is also a Qualified Company Secretary, along with having an LLB degree. Mrs. Priya Sharma has been able to give her best only because of the equal opportunities provided by Mangalam Cement Limited She has achieved all for growth through the years only because of the healthy culture of encouraging diverse opinions and leadership styles, along with female role models within the company. Mangalam Cement Limited has always provided flexible or hybrid work arrangements. The company has held various Leadership, negotiation, and technical skills workshops specifically for women.
Mrs Lissy Raju is working as the Personal Secretary to the President (Operations) at Mangalam Cement Limited (MCL) since 2013, she has played a pivotal role in supporting the leadership team and contributing to the organization's success. Inspired by MCL’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity, Mrs. Raju takes pride in being part of a company that fosters professional growth and ensures a supportive work environment for women. With 23 years of experience prior to joining MCL, she has held key positions in companies such as M/s Associated Stone Industries (Kotah) Limited (ASI), Kores India Ltd, and Surgical Scientific Pvt Ltd, excelling in roles ranging from Deputy Manager to Personal Assistant to the Chairman. Her educational background, including a Pre-Degree and a Diploma in Typing and Stenography, has equipped her with the skills necessary to thrive in her career. Parveen Devi is a dedicated healthcare professional currently serving as a Nurse at Mangalam Cement Limited. With a strong commitment to patient care, she plays a crucial role in managing medical emergencies and overseeing healthcare services within the company dispensary. Bringing over 13 years of experience in the field, Parveen has previously worked with reputed organizations such as Honda, IOCL, and MMU Hospital-Ambala, where she held positions as a Nurse Supervisor and Industrial Nurse. Her vast expertise enables her to ensure the well-being of employees while upholding high medical standards in an industrial setting. Parveen holds a GNM Nursing degree from National School of Nursing, Fatehabad, Haryana (2011) and a Bachelor of Arts from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana (2007), reflecting her strong academic foundation.
