74 Birla Corporation Ltd. is firmly committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and one of key corporate objective is to reduce our dependence on coal as a fuel. With a view to promote renewable energy and also to produce energy through cleaner and greener sources, the Company has installed Solar Power Plants at its Integrated Cement Plants. That's why, the company have been steadily ramping up the use of renewable power in cement production. Green power now accounts for nearly 25% of our total energy consumption. The Company's two main sources of renewable power are solar and Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS), which reuses heat energy generated in the process of cement production to generate power as well. The Company's carbon footprint is already among the lowest in the cement industry. Birla Corporation currently produces around 43.35 MW of green power from WHRS and 42.8 MW of green power from Solar & constantly working with partners to further scale up solar power generation. Also 18 MW of green power is produced from Hybrid (wind & solar) sources.
