Static LS Separator (Fig-6 right) is recommended for final separation in raw ma- terial grinding plants where the product is coarser compared to cement grinding. KHD dynamic separators (Fig-7) are designed with side entry of gases in SKS-Z/V and bottom entry of gases in SKS-LC. Later is mainly used for raw material grinding plants. 3.0. KHD ROLLER PRESS CIRCUITS: BEST SOLUTION FOR UPGRADE OF EXISTING BALL MILL PLANTS Beside the finish mode grinding ciruits, also the production increase of existing ball mill grinding ciruits with installation of Roller Press in semi finish mode has always been a strength of KHD Hum- boldt Wedag. An increase in production by upgra- dation with Roller Press always means electrical energy saving. Since 25 years, KHD as a leader in Roller Press grinding technology increases the performance of existing ball mill grinding systems without major modifications in the existing equip- ment. It is noteworthy to mention the downtime of grinding system to interlink new and existing equipments is only 7-10 days. Due to cement demand increase in India, cement manufacturers are taking up different routes for cement capacity increase like green field plants, brown field new plants, integrated units, split grinding units etc. In brown field expansion projects for cement grinding enhancement (be it integrated unit or split grinding unit) there can be two options: addition of new cement grinding plant or upgrade of existing ball mill ciruit with installation Roller Press for the required target production. KHD Humboldt Wedag is master in providing tailor made upgrade solutions. For upgrading existing ball mills, there can be two solutions: 1. SFM-S type single product system (Fig-8): Existing dynamic separator and its product collection circuit will not be used. New dy- namic separator will be selected big enough to take care of RP throughput and ball mill throughput so that there is only one product coming out of the circuit. These types of cir- cuits are named as Semi finish mode “S” type (SFM-S type). 2. SFM-B type two product system (Fig-9): Existing dynamic separator and its product collection circuit will be used. This is followed when the existing circuit is not that old, and the separator is good in efficiency terms. New dynamic separator will be selected suitable to take care of RP throughput only so that there are two products coming out of the circuit and mixed properly before entering the cement silo. These types of circuits are named as Semi finish mode “B” type (SFM-B type).
