17 Beyond Miyawaki Plantation since the mine’s inception, we have planted a total of 91,705 trees for green belt development within our 39-hectare lease area. We have also planted an additional 13,779 trees outside themining lease area to further enhance the environmental setting and improve the surrounding landscape. BIODIVERSITY PARK DEVELOPMENT: Complementing the Miyawaki initiative, JKCL has undertaken the creation of a Biodiversity Park (20 Hectare Area). The park is envisioned as a living repository of native flora and fauna. Key features of the biodiversity park include: • Massive plantation drives, with integrating native species of medicinal plants, fruit- bearing trees, and shade-providing species. • Dedicated zones for butterfly gardens, herbal gardens, andbirdhabitats, fosteringecosystem services such as pollination and natural pest control. • Soil stabilization projects within the park to restore degraded land and prevent run-off into active mining areas. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030) by actively restoring disturbed landscapes into thriving ecosystems Miyawaki Plantation Mine Office at Initial Stage Biodiversity Park Mine Office at Present
