16 ZERO-WASTE MINING AND ECO-FRIENDLY EQUIPMENT: Efforts are made toward zero-waste mining and eco-friendly practices. We achieve this through the efficient use of equipment, including excavators and rock breakers. To minimize our environmental footprint, we have implemented several key measures: • Noise Control: We use state-of-the-art technologies such as engine mufflers and acoustic enclosures to significantly reduce noise pollution. • Waste Management & Efficiency: We have installed auto-lube dispensers to prevent spills and ensure precise lubrication, and we have dedicated waste oil collection systems to guarantee responsible disposal. These systems enhance both environmental compliance and equipment efficiency. • Advanced Maintenance: Our preventive and predictive maintenance program is central to our eco-friendly approach. We conduct regular “blow-by” engine checks and timely calibration of fuel pumps and injectors to control smoke emissions. Furthermore, our equipment is configured with features that automatically shut down engines during prolonged idling, automatically reduce RPMs, and operate in economy mode to maximize fuel efficiency and minimize waste. GREEN BELT DEVELOPMENT & MIYAWAKI PLANTATIONS: One of the standout initiatives at Maliakhera Limestone Mine is the adoption of the Miyawaki plantation method. We have adopted the Miyawaki method to create dense plantation of carefully selected native species in a multi-layered format, creating a self- sustaining forest ecosystem within a relatively short span of 2–3 years. Over the past three years, we have successfully transformed a 0.50-hectare area into a thriving micro-forest by planting 9,719 plants using the effective Miyawaki method. Building on this momentum, we have a clear and ambitious plan to expand our efforts annually, by developing an additional 0.2 hectares each year, with a target of planting 2,500 new plants. This method, combined with our Beema Bamboo plantations developed through tissue culture for rapid growth and high yield, underscores our commitment to sustainable business practices. Unlike conventional plantations, which may take decades to mature, Miyawaki forests grow up to 10 times faster and are 30 times denser, making them highly effective in industrial and mining landscapes.
