In various reports the actual figure of energy consumption is compared with the average and best in the peer group. The average figure is invariably calculated from the data in the current quarter. But the best figure or the Benchmark figure is taken up dynamically from the database. This means that the best figure is chosen not only from the current quarter data alone, but is chosen from the entire database (all quarters in the past). The systems stores the benchmark values and whenever the current quarter data is better than the Benchmark value, the benchmark is updated. This makes the benchmarking dynamic.
